Andre Kertesz

The image above is called "Under the Eiffel Tower" and it was taken in 1929 while Kertesz was living in France. I love this image because it looks so complex but simplistic at the same time. I love how small the people look and the shadows of the Eiffel Tower help with that. This picture was taken during Dadaism Movement which was a big influence for French artists at the time. Although this photograph does not speak Dadaism in its form I think the message is. Dadaism is heavily against bourgeois ways and I think that is what this picture is trying to show with the big structure against the small people.

The Thing Itself

I have to agree with most of the things that were stated in the reading. When a photograph is shown in a magazine or internet or whatever we usually do not think of the photographer. We only think of the subject that is presented. What I liked best is when he begins to talk about college students taking his photography class. He says that his students never take pictures of the "College Life" because we never do that either. But I don't think there is anything wrong with that.We tend to take pictures that will give an emotional response amd that is were this reading seems to go.

Update: Story

This is the direction I decided to take with the Story idea.
