Barry Frydlender
After looking at Barry Frydlenders's photographs this one was my favorite. The complexity in the photo amazes me, but yet it looks like it was taken very easily. I love how the majority of the people are just standing there and minding there own business. Many of Barry's photographs are like this. There is a lot of going on and yet people just stand there. When I was in class Meg and I were talking about the lighting in the picture. It looks very natural but I feel like this is a still image from a movie. I don't know why I get that feeling. It just looks like I am watching a still movie. Every time I move my eyes I feel like I am watching something new. It changes every time.
My final project will be different than Barry's style. I will only be using two to three people max and will add "special effects" to it, but I may shoot in the downtown area or other highly dense people so there may be more. I just want to avoid that. I am going for a more comic feel to my pictures than something serious.

Proposal
For my final project I am going to do a stop motion video. I still do not know what direction I am going to take it, but I want to make it similar to the example I made last week. Because stop motion takes so long to make I plan on making it no longer than 2 minutes, and turn in 8-10 prints. So to make it easier on the prints I want to make it a short narrative. The prints will look slightly different the video because I will make adjustments to the prints, such as contrast and color correction. I am still unsure of what toys/dolls that I will be using. I am leaning on using a different toy where I can control its movements better. I may keep the Toon Link doll because I use it with other things and the size makes it better to shoot. I know that I will not be using people as my main subjects, but there will be people in the background as I will be shooting on campus.

Matthew Brandt
I really love this image because it is very disturbing, but peaceful at the same time. I kind of wish I was living in this world, and I feel the same for all of his pictures. It is a very crazy world that I want to be a part of. His collection of Lake and Reservoirs consists of taking a picture of a body of water and then soaking the picture in that water. So they are connected in many ways, and I love that about his collection. This one is one of my favorites because of the way the reds blend with the mountains and water. It almost looks bloody. And the mixture of colors in the bottom right remind you that there are other things as well. It is not as simple as red and white, but multiple colors in our world.
Lucy on the Wall - Stop Motion Video
This is a stop motion that me and two of my other friends made for our video production class. Any comments on how this could have been made better will be helpful. Thank you.

Andre Kertesz
The image above is called "Under the Eiffel Tower" and it was taken in 1929 while Kertesz was living in France. I love this image because it looks so complex but simplistic at the same time. I love how small the people look and the shadows of the Eiffel Tower help with that. This picture was taken during Dadaism Movement which was a big influence for French artists at the time. Although this photograph does not speak Dadaism in its form I think the message is. Dadaism is heavily against bourgeois ways and I think that is what this picture is trying to show with the big structure against the small people.

The Thing Itself
I have to agree with most of the things that were stated in the reading. When a photograph is shown in a magazine or internet or whatever we usually do not think of the photographer. We only think of the subject that is presented. What I liked best is when he begins to talk about college students taking his photography class. He says that his students never take pictures of the "College Life" because we never do that either. But I don't think there is anything wrong with that.We tend to take pictures that will give an emotional response amd that is were this reading seems to go.

Edward Burtysnky
I am in love with this photograph. The photograph looks so simple, but yet it is showing a very complex structure of a Los Angeles. The photo is dominated by gray but the greens from the trees and brown from the dirt seem very subtle, and the lighting and contrast just seem perfect. The photo looks as though it is in HDR? I am not too sure. But I do get a very surrealistic feel to it.
I find it very difficult to tell what Edward Burtynsky was trying to show, but if I were to say it is that he wants to show how urbanization and the use of major highways is killing of our land (as that is what most of his pictures are about.)
Escape
I know we are not supposed to use flash, but it
was the only way to take the pictures without
them looking super blurry from motion blur.
This might be cheating? But when I heard escape
this is the first thing that came to my mind.
